Common questions

AcctApp is built and maintained by a small Australian team. We use the software in our own business - so every feature that gets built is one we actually need. You can reach us directly at sales@acctapp.com.au and we respond to every email.
AcctApp was built by an eBay seller who was tired of manually entering sales figures every day. Drawing on a background in accounting and business, the creator set out to build a straightforward accounting application - then kept adding to it as real day-to-day needs emerged: point of sale, inventory, CRM, email, and more. AcctApp is entirely Australian-built and owned.
AcctApp remains fully functional - you keep complete read and write access to your data indefinitely. What stops is software updates: new versions released after your maintenance expires will not be available to you until you renew. Your data is never deleted or locked away.
Your database is a standard SQL Server or SQLite file on your own machine or network. You can take a backup at any time from Settings → Database. AcctApp runs fully offline day-to-day - it performs a brief licence verification check roughly once every 14 days (a few seconds, in the background). Your data is always yours - no cloud lock-in, no data held remotely.
AcctApp calculates BAS figures automatically and lets you record lodgment details for your own records. The actual lodgment is handled separately - typically by your accountant or bookkeeper. For STP, payroll data is submitted through a connected payroll service such as KeyPay.
AcctApp can import chart of accounts, contacts, and opening balances from standard CSV exports. For a full migration from another package, contact support and we can assist with the process.
User accounts are unlimited on every plan. Company entities depend on your licence: Standard covers 1 company, Professional covers up to 3 companies, and Enterprise is unlimited. Run your holding company, trading company, and trust from a single AcctApp install with a Professional or Enterprise licence. Accountants managing client books should look at Enterprise.
AcctApp includes three POS modes - all included in the standard licence: (1) Desktop PC POS - a keyboard-first full-screen POS built into the app with barcode scanner support, cash drawer, and silent receipt printing. (2) Tablet POS - a touch-optimised web app served over your local Wi-Fi; open it on any iPad or Android tablet, no app install required. (3) Mobile POS - the same web app in a portrait phone layout with Tap to Pay (NFC) via the Square app. All modes support Square Terminal, EFTPOS, Afterpay, Zip, PayPal, cash, cheque, and charge to account. Every sale posts a GL journal and stock movement instantly.
Yes. AcctApp has a built-in eBay connector. You can import eBay payout journals (splitting gross sales, fees, and refunds into the correct GL accounts) and import your eBay product listings directly into your inventory - including colour/size variants and images. The eBay connection uses OAuth2 and never stores your eBay password.
